2026 – Lapford Mill is now closed

We have certainly had a lot of fun in the few years we have been open as a music venue, bar, open air theatre venue and more recently, a live steam railway!

Many of us have heard of the struggles facing Hospitality and we are clearly not immune to it. 2026 saw the introduction of a model steam railway and privately we will be continuing to work on this however we do not have any current plans to re-open. This will depend on the interest and if we can attract a volunteer team to help with the construction.  If you are interested in being on this team, we have a lot of fun, get the work done and it’s all augmented with good hot grub, regular coffees and teas, some laughs and, where appropriate, a beer or two! So if you’d like to be kept informed of progress or wish to be involved in this private pursuit then please get in touch directly or register for the email on www.lapfordmill.uk/contact

Further to this is the contamination of our grounds from the water company of raw sewage back in March last year which left us severely impacted. Although we have been well supported by our regulars, local trade this year has been all but non-existent and the costs of keeping the business open can’t be met so it is with some regret that we compelled to close indefinitely with immediate effect.

We still have a number of open-air theatre events planned and will announce these as soon as we can.

In the meantime,

We wish all our friends and darling customers a Happy and Prosperous(!) New Year and we hope to see you again if we can get there! I remain resident at the mill and continue to enjoy casual live music jams but these are now organised as private evening as we no longer have public insurance in place so those of us that continue to want to rehearse, jam or chat – please contact me!

Lots of love and with hope for finding a suitable future for this awesome place!
